PROMISING TRENDS OF LAUNDRY
Laundry operations have an enormous impact on the environment. Various cleaning and finishing processes use vast amount of energy and water while the use of chemicals causes air pollution, toxic waste and sewage problems.
Now a day everyone is demanding for the eco friendly cleaning practices, as it not only a platform for the healthy body and life but also produce the best results with the least operational risk, which include:
Conservation
Waste reduction
Reduction of energy/water usage
Recycling
And keeping these factors in mind there are several new conservative and eco-friendly trends in fabric washing process, introduced in the market and are warmly accepted by the laundry and dry-cleaning sector.
Laundromats A self-service laundry where coin-operated washing machines are available to individual customers. This service helps not only in conserving the water and chemicals but also help in reducing the washing time. As launderettes have washers having capasity of 40lb which enables customers to launder four to five loads in a single machine
Wet Cleaning It is a method in which bio-degradable detergent made of fruits and plants like soybeans accompanied with detergent, warm water and right amount of agitation in the washing machine, are used to produce a clean fabric.
Green Earth Cleaning It is a non toxic method, in which liquid silicon is used for dry cleaning method, which not only helps in maintaining the quality but help in increasing the life of fabric.
Liquid carbon dioxide dry cleaning A non toxic dry cleaning alternative, using carbon dioxide as the main solvent. In this process, at the end of the cycle, carbon dioxide is pulled out from the cloths with the dirt, so there is no need of drying or heating. But due to its high operational cost it is least accepted by the laundry owners.
LATEST TREND introduction of washing machine by the University of Leeds, which save up to 90% of water and conserve 30% less energy. In this method, reusable nylon polymers are used which helps in removing the dirt from the fabric. About 20 kg of beads can efficiently work with a cup of water and can be used for the washing cycle up to next six months.
